About this home

Seller's View

"We had lived on a housing estate for 17 years, where we raised our three daughters. As they grew older and reached their teenage and college years, we started looking for a larger home that offered more space, privacy and individuality.

We struggled to find anything locally that felt truly unique and tucked away from the hustle and bustle, until we found Ashridge House. It immediately ticked every box. It allowed us to stay in the area we loved, meaning the girls could still walk to school and spend time with their friends, while giving us the extra space we needed as a growing family. The generous driveway was an added bonus when the girls eventually started driving!

The location has been one of the things we've loved most about living here. We have excellent access to the M3, several nearby railway connections and local shopping facilities, all while enjoying the peace and tranquillity of being a little off the beaten track. Hawley Woods is quite literally on our doorstep, and more recently, Hawley Farm has become one of our favourite places for walks with our much-loved dog.

We've loved every minute of our 15 years here. Ashridge House has been a wonderful family home, filled with so many happy memories. It's with mixed emotions that we're moving on, but with all three daughters now having flown the nest, we find ourselves rattling around in a house that's far bigger than we need.

The time feels right for another family to make their own memories here and enjoy everything that has made Ashridge House such a special place for us to call home."

Jack's Comments

What I love about Ashridge House is that it really doesn't feel like your typical family home in Blackwater. It's tucked away along Fernhill Lane, surrounded by greenery, and you get that lovely feeling of being out in the countryside without actually being miles away from everything.

It's also quite rare to find a house like this. Individually built just over 15 years ago, it's a complete one-off, and I think that's a big part of its appeal. If you're looking for something a little different from the usual estate houses, this is definitely worth a look.

Inside, the layout works brilliantly for family life. You've got a lovely big living room, a separate family room and a spacious kitchen/breakfast room, so there's plenty of room to spend time together without everyone being on top of each other. With six bedrooms spread across the upper two floors, there's loads of flexibility too. Whether you've got a growing family, teenagers wanting their own space or need a couple of rooms for working from home, you've got plenty of options. There's also a separate utility room, multiple bathrooms and a detached double garage, so it's a really practical house as well as an impressive one. But for me, the biggest selling point has to be the balance between the location and the space. You can step outside and enjoy some fantastic walks around Hawley Woods and Hawley Farm, yet you're still really well placed for local schools, shopping, the M3 and railway connections.

I think the current owners' experience says a lot about the house. It's been a fantastic home for them as their three daughters grew up, and now there's an opportunity for another family to enjoy that same space and setting.

If you want a substantial family home that feels private, peaceful and a little bit special, but you don't want to compromise on convenience, I'd really recommend coming to see Ashridge House. It's one of those properties where you appreciate the setting even more when you arrive.

Area View – Fernhill Lane, Blackwater

One of the things that makes Fernhill Lane so appealing is that it feels like you've escaped the hustle and bustle, without actually having to give up any of the conveniences of everyday life.

It's a lovely, tucked-away location with a real semi-rural feel, surrounded by greenery and with some fantastic countryside walks right on your doorstep. Hawley Woods is particularly close by, while Hawley Farm offers another great spot to get outside, whether that's walking the dog, heading out with the family or simply enjoying a bit of fresh air.

Despite the peaceful setting, you're still really well connected. Blackwater, Yateley and Camberley offer a good choice of shops, supermarkets, cafés and everyday amenities, while popular local schools make this a particularly attractive spot for families.

For anyone commuting, access to the M3 is convenient, and there are several nearby railway options, including Blackwater, Sandhurst and Farnborough, providing connections towards Reading, Guildford and London.

What makes this location stand out is that balance. You can enjoy the privacy, greenery and quieter pace of life that Fernhill Lane offers, while knowing schools, shopping and transport links are all within easy reach.

It's a fantastic setting for anyone who wants a little more breathing space without feeling cut off from everything.
