About this home
First home. No car. Daily life on foot.
They chose it because life worked from here
When Farhana and Muhammad were looking for their first home, Farhana didn’t drive. From Jordans Crescent, she could walk to work, Sainsbury’s, the local shops, the town centre and nearby parks. The cinema and restaurants were within walking distance too. For trips further afield, buses to Gatwick leave from nearby Langley Drive.
That practical connection to everyday life is part of Langley Green’s history. Planned as one of Crawley New Town’s early neighbourhoods in the 1950s, it was designed around the idea that people should be able to reach many daily essentials on foot.
For Farhana and Muhammad, there was another part to the choice: after London, they wanted somewhere quieter. Jordans Crescent gave them a calmer place to come home to, while keeping the things they needed close by.
Space to be together—and room to do your own thing
At around 1,081 sq ft, the house has two reception rooms and a 15ft conservatory across the back. Sliding doors connect the living room to the conservatory, so the space can open up when everyone’s together and still give you somewhere separate to sit.
There’s also a downstairs WC—one less reason for guests to head upstairs.
The owners say friends and family have often been surprised by the bedroom sizes. The main bedroom has built-in wardrobes and looks over the garden. The second is another double, while the third can work as a bedroom, study or nursery.
The big jobs have been done
When Farhana and Muhammad bought the house, it needed substantial work. They re-skimmed the downstairs, replaced the heating system and carpets, renovated the shower room, and improved the garage.
The Baxi boiler was installed in 2020. The sellers say Muhammad, who is Gas Safe registered, has serviced it every year.
The kitchen is clean and working. You can use it from day one, then decide for yourself whether—and when—you want to update it.
Morning sun. A garden the children could use.
The enclosed garden faces east, bringing morning sun to the back of the house. It gave the children somewhere to play, and the patio became Farhana’s favourite place to sit—even on a chilly day.
The garage opens onto another road
The detached garage is reached from Jordan Close behind the house, with a path leading to it from the garden. That means access from the rear, without carrying things through the house.
Muhammad uses it for work stock and storage. It could be just as useful for bikes, tools, bulky shopping or a classic car...
A small kindness that says a lot
Farhana says the neighbours will be one of the things she misses most. The neighbour next door brings their bins in on collection day; they do the same for him.
It’s a small routine, but it tells you something personal about the welcome this family received.
Farhana and Muhammad chose this as their first home because they could walk to the things they needed and come back to somewhere quieter. They made it their own, raised their family here, and are now to move into another chapter 10 minutes down the road.
For this home's next owner, the same combination is here: daily essentials within walking distance, room to make a home, and a detached garage with its own access from the road behind.
