About this home
*** NO UPWARD CHAIN ***
Twelve years, one family, and a view that never lost its magic.
Set in Wollescote, on the eastern side of Stourbridge, this impressive three-bedroom link detached home has been transformed by its current owners over twelve years. It’s arranged across three floors, with an open-plan ground floor created in a full renovation in 2024, a versatile lower ground floor with its own access, and bedrooms that look out over Stevens Park and far beyond. Outside, a large garden climbs over five levels, and a block paved driveway sits out front.
We asked them what made them buy it... “We were searching for our forever home after years studying and working in Birmingham city centre. We wanted something bigger and away from the city, but not too far away. The moment we stepped through the front door, we knew we had found it. What struck us about the area was how quickly you feel part of it. The same friendly faces walk their dogs up and down the road every day, and before long you know them all. It strikes a rare balance: not quite a village, not quite a city. Mr Souvlaki in Stourbridge town centre became our weekly favourite, and there’s always something going on, from events in the local park to Stourbridge’s big seasonal celebrations at Halloween, Christmas and Easter.”
What about the house itself? “Above all, it was the brightness. It felt like home. We didn’t have children yet, and it was the perfect size for the family we hoped to become. Twelve years on, the view has never once lost its magic. The living room is the heart of the home, where we watch films, share meals and laugh together as a family, and on summer evenings the deck is the place to be, with many a dinner served outdoors. I built the brick pizza oven myself, and it has hosted countless evenings with friends. This is where our family grew, and so many of our happiest moments happened here. We hope it brings you as much happiness as it brought us.”
Our agents say... Let’s start with the view, because everyone does. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom, but it’s bedrooms one and two that steal the show, with floor-to-ceiling picture windows looking out across Stevens Park and on towards the Shropshire hills. It’s the kind of outlook you stop for on the way to the wardrobe. And on bonfire night? Pull up a chair.
Downstairs, the 2024 renovation opened everything up. Internal walls came down so the lounge, sitting room and dining area all flow into the kitchen, and whoever’s cooking is still part of the conversation. French doors open from the lounge and from the dining area, and there’s a handy WC too. The kitchen is new, and bigger too, after the old conservatory was rebuilt with an insulated roof to extend it. It comes with AEG appliances including an induction hob, a built-in oven and a combination microwave, plus an instant boiling-water tap for the tea drinkers. The renovation also added a single-storey extension to the front, along with new flooring and fitted wardrobes. The work behind the scenes counts too: the house was rewired, every window and door was replaced with new double glazing, and the boiler was replaced in 2022. On cooler evenings, the electric fireplace does the rest.
Then there’s the lower ground floor, and this is where the house gets really interesting. Renovated in 2026, it’s fully insulated and has its own double doors, with a large converted room and a utility area with a shower and a fitted sink. Use it as a home office, a guest room for visiting family, a teenager’s den or a music room with its own way in. There’s even potential to add a kitchenette, subject to any necessary consents.
The garden deserves a viewing of its own. Laid out over five levels, it has a deck that links straight to the house, pergolas, tiled seating areas on two levels, an artificial lawn with plenty of room for the kids to play, a flower bed, a shed and that brick pizza oven. Out front, the block paved driveway has an EV charger, and look closely at the paving and you’ll spot an ancient Greek motif in the design.
Beyond the front door, Stevens Park offers 67 acres of open space, a walled garden and a junior parkrun every Sunday morning, with the Clent Hills for wilder walks and Merry Hill for shopping and days out.
